Equity Percentiles · Reading the Bands

Where in the envelope are you?

How MARS uses this

This page is the location question — where in the envelope are you? — and the overlay is the instrument that answers it. The read is positional first: median tracking is the system behaving as modeled, P75 with controlled drawdown is strength, P90 is quarantined from expectations by rule.

How it benefits you

You stop grading months by feel. A flat quarter inside the band stops causing panic edits, a hot streak at P85 stops justifying size increases, and genuine model breaks get caught by classification instead of by pain.

ABOVE MEDIAN · NORMALTRACKING P60live equity (green) read against the simulated envelope — never in isolation

The location instrument: live equity placed inside its own percentile envelope, read by position before emotion.

Reading the bands

Where in the envelope are you?

Tracking near the median means the system is behaving as modeled. Sitting at P75/P90 with controlled drawdown may be early alpha — or favorable variance awaiting confirmation. Drifting toward P25/P10 raises the question of whether live EV is running below the modeled edge, or whether execution drag is bleeding the difference.

  • Never celebrate a band position without checking the supporting metrics behind it.
  • Band position plus drawdown band position together tell the real story — either alone can mislead.

Where it lives

Inside Equity Percentiles.

This page expands one card of the Equity Percentiles page into its own reference. For orientation, the module's own framing: Percentile equity paths — P10, P25, median, P75, P90 — define the realistic range of outcomes under the system's own rules. Live equity is read against those bands, replacing 'I'm behind' and 'I'm ahead' feelings with a measured position.

Band crossings

Movement between bands matters more than residence.

Sitting at P40 is information; sliding from P60 to P40 over four reviews is a story. The band read tracks trajectory across review points, because a stable middle-band system and a slowly sinking one can occupy the same row this week while deserving opposite responses next month.
