Use Case 08 — Live vs Benchmark Review

The objective mirror.

The review

Five metrics against the envelope.

Each review period, live values locate themselves inside the simulated benchmark bands — equity against percentile paths, drawdown against distributions, quality metrics against expected ranges, gate dwell and tier usage against the model.

The classification

Every deviation gets a name.

Deviation from the benchmark is not automatically good or bad — it's unclassified until the taxonomy runs:

  • Favorable alpha — outperformance with healthy structure behind it.
  • Normal variance — inside the bands; no action earned.
  • Execution drag — the rules are fine; the execution is leaking.
  • Governance failure — overrides, gate violations, or discipline breaks explain the gap.

Modules involved

The mirror stack.

The Dynamic Seven-Tier MC Benchmark supplies the ruler, the Live-Trade Benchmark Comparison runs the read, and CP3 provides the live truth being measured.

How MARS uses this

Every proposed rule change - stop policy, branch weights, fee model - is cloned into a scenario profile and resampled against the same evidence. The grid renders the trade-offs, and only profiles whose edge survives without deepening the P10 tail earn candidate status for live promotion.

How it benefits you

System changes stop being vibes-based. The tempting tweak that costs 0.07R of expectancy for a modest drawdown saving gets rejected by arithmetic before it silently taxes six months of trading - and promising candidates carry their evidence with them into review.
