The bands

Six outcomes, and the neutral one is in the middle rather than at the top.

The scorecard runs from strongly negative to strongly positive, and each region maps to one management posture. The top band is the only one that permits delaying protection and monetisation — the highest-variance posture available, and correspondingly the hardest region to reach. Below it sits the band that permits preserving more open exposure without delaying the checkpoints themselves. The central band is Standard, the neutral baseline against which every variant is compared. Below Standard the bands become progressively defensive: extra banking first, then early staged monetisation, then no trade at all. Reading the bands in order makes the design intent obvious — the ladder is asymmetric, with far more room below the baseline than above it.

The neutral posture sits in the middle of the range, not at its top. Reaching an aggressive band requires positive evidence across several lenses; falling to a defensive one requires only that the evidence stop supporting the aggressive case.

The vetoes

Some conditions end the assessment, and the score is not consulted afterwards.

A scored system on its own would allow strength in five lenses to purchase permission that a sixth was refusing, and there are conditions where that trade must not be available. System Lock disables all variants outright — there is no normal trading authority to manage within. A trade whose branch identity is wrong is reclassified or skipped, because a variant cannot legitimately disguise one branch as another. Prohibited execution conditions, hard news windows and spread failures are not management problems and no posture repairs them. A red expectancy state combined with deteriorating structure blocks aggression regardless of how favourable the market looks. Each of these terminates rather than subtracts, and that is the structural difference between a veto and a low score.

  • A veto is not a large negative contribution — it ends the assessment.
  • Gate state at Floor or deeper removes the aggressive bands entirely, whatever the score.
  • Poor adherence caps the posture at Standard: weak process is not rewarded with wider management.

The disagreement rule

When two major lenses conflict sharply, the result is downgraded one full level.

Between the smooth arithmetic of the score and the hard stop of a veto sits a third mechanism, and it is the one that does most of the practical work. If two significant lenses point in opposite directions — expectancy healthy while the gate sits deep, structure clean while variance is hostile — the outcome drops one band regardless of where the sum landed. The reasoning is that a high total assembled from strong readings and a severe weakness is not equivalent to the same total assembled from uniformly moderate readings, even though the arithmetic cannot tell them apart. Sharp internal disagreement is itself evidence that the situation is not understood well enough to justify the posture the sum implies.

Why not a pure checklist

A conjunctive test would fail almost every real trade, and the failures would carry no information.

The case for scoring is practical. Seven lenses reading simultaneously clean is rare — market structure, volatility regime, capital state, structural trend, execution quality and variance state are not correlated enough to align often. A strictly conjunctive test would therefore reject nearly everything and route nearly every trade to the same fallback, which is a system that has stopped discriminating. Scoring preserves the information in partial agreement: six clean lenses and one soft failure is a genuinely different situation from four clean and three soft, and the band structure is what keeps those two apart. The vetoes then supply the categorical refusals that a score alone cannot express.

The default when the reading is mixed

Ambiguity resolves to Standard, and Standard is a real answer rather than an absence of one.

The most common outcome of a genuinely mixed assessment is the central band, and the doctrine is explicit that this is the correct destination rather than a failure to decide. Standard is the baseline every variant is measured against, it has known behaviour on every branch, and it is the posture whose expectancy is best evidenced simply because it is used most. The instruction not to invent conviction is aimed at the specific failure of an operator who reads a mixed matrix, dislikes the flatness of the answer, and reaches for an aggressive posture on the strength of the one lens that looked encouraging.

Held together, the two mechanisms produce a system that is flexible in the middle and rigid at the edges — which is the correct shape, because the middle is where judgement adds value and the edges are where it reliably fails. An operator who remembers only the score will eventually talk themselves past a veto with a strong total. An operator who remembers only the vetoes will treat the whole apparatus as a set of prohibitions and lose the graded information the seven lenses were built to produce.
