Reading the HUD: five phases, nine timeframes, one glance.

Five states, symmetric around neutral.

Every timeframe resolves to one of five phases with a numeric value and a colour: impulse up at +2 renders lime, corrective up at +1 teal, neutral or mixed at 0 gray, corrective down at −1 orange, and impulse down at −2 red. The symmetry matters for reading speed — the eye distinguishes lime and red instantly, and teal versus orange nearly as fast, so a stacked panel communicates directional bias before any counting happens. The impulse/corrective distinction is the structurally important one: lime and red mark trend legs, while teal and orange mark counter legs, and a panel full of impulse colours means directional wind at your back.

The counts

From colours to convergence thresholds.

Behind the colours the HUD counts how many timeframes sit in each bucket — impulse up, impulse down, corrective up, corrective down — and derives two convergence figures: the impulse convergence as the larger of the two impulse counts, and the corrective convergence likewise. Those counts drive the event thresholds. When either reaches MinN, the panel announces a regular convergence event via the ticker; when it reaches SpecialN, the event is marked with a star and treated as high-conviction confluence. Typical configuration puts MinN at 2 and SpecialN at 4, meaning two aligned timeframes constitute a setup regime and four constitute a priority one.

The pattern that matters

Higher timeframes impulsing while lower ones finish correcting.

The manual names the specific configuration worth watching for: higher timeframes turning impulse — the hourly, four-hour, and thirty-minute rows going lime — while the five- and fifteen-minute rows finish an orange or teal corrective. That combination often precedes a trend continuation move, and it's precisely the structure the continuation strategies are built to trade: an established higher-timeframe trend with a completing pullback on the execution chart. Reading it requires the multi-row panel, because the signal is a relationship between rows rather than any single row's state.

Honest counts

Thin data produces confident nonsense.

The HUD includes an intraday safe mode for symbols lacking deep one-, five-, or fifteen-minute history, and the guidance is to enable it and toggle off those fast timeframes to keep the counts honest. The reasoning generalizes across the whole system: a convergence count including timeframes whose phase was computed from insufficient history is a count that overstates its own evidence, and because the count drives the MinN and SpecialN thresholds, thin data doesn't merely add noise — it manufactures events. Fewer honest rows beat more rows of which some are guesses.

  • Toggle timeframes deliberately: every enabled row votes in the convergence counts.
  • MinN and SpecialN must match between HUD and overlay, or the star events and the chart labels stop corresponding.
  • The panel reports structure; it never reports whether a trade is authorized. Same boundary as every other evidence tool.

The key idea

Compression is what makes multi-timeframe analysis practical.

Checking wave phase on nine timeframes manually is possible and won't happen — not before every setup, not consistently, not under pressure. The HUD's contribution is making it a glance: rows, colours, counts, thresholds. That's the same trade the gate ladder makes with drawdown and the scorecard makes with EV — sophistication computed underneath, one readable state on top, so the discipline survives contact with a live market.
