The scope
Three entities in, four out, and the exclusion is not about importance.
The engine runs on the core plan blend, on the trend engine in isolation, and on the total system. Normal, Trend Partial, Trend No-Partial and Overflow — the four branches that carry every trade the system takes — are excluded from it entirely. This is not a statement that branch-level behaviour is uninteresting; branch diagnostics are the whole subject of the structural pipelines and the branch risk engine, both of which run happily on primitives. It is a statement about what this particular test needs in order to mean anything. The contradiction test asks whether two quality ratios agree, and agreement between two noisy estimates is not a detectable property. Running it on a primitive would produce output, and the output would be a measurement of sample size.

Every entity appears in the structural pipelines. Only the three composites appear here, because only they aggregate enough trades for a divergence between two ratios to be attributable to the system rather than to the sample.
